Star Trek – The Next Generation: 2×06 – The Schizoid Man

Memory Alpha

Data-Grave’s eulogy in this
episode is one of the things I’ve always remembered from this show since I was
young:

“I can safely say, that to
know him, was to love him. And to love him, was to know him…

Star Trek – The Next Generation: 2×05 – Loud As A Whisper

Memory Alpha

I liked this episode.  There were a few little things I found cheesy and wish were elaborated on more, but overall I thought it was decent.  The Enterprise has to transport Riva, who is we’re told a very successful negotiator.  So successful that he’s practically revered and worshipped by a number of sentient beings in the galaxy.

Star Trek – The Next Generation: 2×01 – The Child

Memory Alpha

Continuing my celebration of Star Trek’s fiftieth year by watching my Next Generation Blu-Rays.  I’m going to go through the episodes a little more slowly than Season One, but now let’s get into this thing:

So season one of The Next
Generation was…

Star Trek – The Next Generation:  1×26 – The Neutral Zone

Memory Alpha

Well, there’s actually a lot to talk about in this episode.  I mean, the episode itself is terrible.  Apart from Data, the rest of the crews dismissive attitude toward discovering the twentieth century ship and survivors on board is just very out of character considering they’re supposed to be explorers.

Star Trek – The Next Generation:  1×25 – Conspiracy

Memory Alpha

O_O

His…

……

His head burst…

I think when I watched this when I was younger it must have been edited for TV, because… his skull just popped.  I don’t remember that at all.

Star Trek – The Next Generation:  1×23 – Skin of Evil

Memory Alpha

So this is it.  The episode in which we say farewell to Lieutenant Natasha Yar.  She got to phaser some aliens, so it’s not like her time on board was entirely wasted.  But, yeah, Denise Crosby apparently wasn’t happy with her characters development.  Not that the writing for anybody has really been stellar in the first season,

That was an anti-drug psa, courtesy of Tasha Yar.  It’s like someone asked one of the writers if they could be any more patronising, and they just accepted that as a challenge.

Star Trek – The Next Generation:  1×21 – The Arsenal of Freedom

Memory Alpha

If you like shipping characters, you’ll probably hate this episode.  Picard and Crusher come so close to confessing their feelings, only to be interrupted by the bloody plot.

Anyway, they arrive at the Minos, Riker gets frozen by a mysterious weapon, and then Captain decides he’ll beam down with Crusher,

Star Trek – The Next Generation:  1×20 – Heart of Glory

Memory Alpha

This is the main thing anyone takes from this episode… the first time outsiders have witnessed the Klingon Death Ritual, where they scream at the ceiling and then help themselves to the dead fellow’s boots.

But it’s also the first time we learn about Lieutenant Worf’s backstory,
