Coutelier Says The Darndest Things… Episode 1

Snippets of actual conversations between me and my nieces and nephews, all aged between 8 and 11.

Nephew (showing his new laptop wallpaper):-  Are you Solar Empire or Luna Republic?

Me:- What?

Nephew:- Solar Empire or Luna Republic!

Me:- Oh… it’s a pony thing.  Luna Republic I guess…

Nephew:- Right.

Me:- But wait… isn’t Luna the evil one?  Why would she have a republic?  Surely she’d want to rule an empire?  Unless it’s to trick her enemies into a false sense of security… I suppose the first rule of running a successful dictatorship is not to actually call your state a dictatorship.  Republic sounds so much friendlier to other nations…

Nephew:- No… that’s Nightmare Moon…

Me:- Oh right. Sorry. I forgot what we were talking about.
