What’s the difference between a geek and a nerd?

Um… I’ve no idea.  Far as I can tell, for most of their history people have used the terms pretty much interchangeably.  Much like the terms ‘psychopath’ and ‘sociopath’ (although if you looked it up on google it’ll probably say something along the lines of a psychopath being born with a genetic predisposition and a sociopath becomes that way because of outside influences… I believe those are the distinctions people try to use now, or something like that).

But as for geek and nerd… I don’t know.  For me personally, I think I see a geek as someone more obsessed with pop-culture things like comic books and TV shows/movies, and nerds as being more into things that are actually somewhat useful like computers and science and all that.  I’m kind of a bit of both I suppose.  I suppose most are really.  I love some shows/films/games but I love knowing some real science as well.
