What didn’t you like about Ready Player One?

I’m not above the odd nod to something, but Ready Player One is literally nothing but references. There are long, long lists of references, references used throughout the story in place of actual descriptions. There’s no wit or humor because a reference is not the same thing as a joke. Even though I am kind of in the demographic for this and I got most the references, take them away and there just isn’t anything else there. Sorry. I know it’s very popular and a bestseller and all that but I just didn’t like it. -Shrugs-
