You can have different types of antagonists for different plotlines. The character who is working to oppose the main character getting together with the love interest doesn’t need to be the same person who’s trying to kill them. Similarly, a character can be an antagonist in one plotline and a supporting character in another plotline. This can even add to the tension: a character may be necessary for accomplishing what the MC needs while also actively opposing what they want.
