Dragons & Princesses

Speaking of my niece, she likes to act and play out all kinds of imaginary scenarios in her head.  One time she was here, she told me that she was a princess and that I had to be her prince and rescue her from a dragon.

Naturally, I said to her that there was absolutely no way I was taking on a dragon, not even for a girl I liked, and besides, modern princesses had to rescue themselves.  Which she did, in the end.

I think I taught her a valuable lesson, but still not sure if it was the right thing to have said to a seven year old.
