So, some biologists argue that Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and indeed all Santa’s Reindeer, are in fact female. This is because they’re usually depicted with antlers, and Reindeer are the only deer species that both male and females grow antlers. However, males shed theirs in late autumn.
(in truth though, sled reindeer are usually castrated males which changes their antler cycle to be the same as females).
