Any thoughts on the Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear controversy?

I haven’t played it yet.  I’m sure I will play it eventually, but right now I’m busy working on my own stuff and I don’t want another distraction.  As for controversy, that’s obviously a big distraction so I’m going to stay out of it.  Besides, in general I always try to stay as far away from any hype or controversy about something as possible, whether it’s a movie, TV show, or videogame.  Either your expectations are raised unrealistically high, or you just hear lots of bad stuff and it’s like being on school and you want to just enjoy it and maybe see some cool stuff, but are just surrouned by people absolutely determined to be negative the entire time.  So I’ll just look at things in my own time and decide myself whether I like them or not.

I will say however that a large part of me wasn’t expecting Siege of Dragonspear to do all that well financially, just because I’d been in the fandom for a while and noticed it kind of dying as people drifted off to do other stuff.  I thought maybe after the Enhanced Editions came out it would pick up again and there’d be an influx of new people, but that didn’t really happen.  A few new fics and things, but nothing like the quantity I’d have hoped for.  But now there’s all this ‘controversy’, apparently, maybe it’ll get more attention and do alright after all.
