About one hundred years now since the start of one of the greatest tragedies in human history; the so called ‘Great War’, or World War One.  Obviously no one called it ‘WW1’ at the time, because no one knew there would be another.  They thought it would be ‘the war to end all wars’… which obviously worked out well.

Anyway, my memory of the great war, obviously I’m not old enough to have actually fought in it, but I remember watching Blackadder Goes Forth in history class.  It seems strange to make a comedy out of such a tragic and huge disaster, but the thing is that a number of these things that  seem crazy to us now, like court martialling someone for shooting a pigeon, all that actually happened.  The whole world had just gone completely insane.
