100 Words For Stupid

Ever hear that thing that eskimoes have a hundred words for snow?  I don’t know if it’s true or not, but the idea I suppose is that there’s such an abundance of snow where they live that they naturally place more importance and on distinguishing between all the different types.

And then it occurred to me that, in English, we have a lot of words that just mean stupid.  Fool, idiot, nincompoop, dunderhead, moron, twit, dumb, brainless, dopey, half-wit, bufflehead, witless, imbecile, thick, bonehead, dolt, dense, loggerhead, daft, harebrained, fopdoodle, ninnyhammer… this is basically a transcript of any conversation between me and my dad.

I don’y know… maybe somehow in England there’re an unusual proportion of right dorbels.
