‘Kaya was used to this kind of judgment – when they were kids, most adults assumed that Jennifer was the one being innocently led along even though it was always her idea to, for example, sneak into the school library and set up cameras to catch a ghost, only for the sudden flashes to give Mrs Kinney a heart attack. It wasn’t really Jen’s fault – she never deliberately led anyone in that direction. It was still damn irritating.’

Just a little extra information I added into the last excerpt of my WIP, kind of suggesting that Kaya had long harbored a tiny bit of resentment toward Jen (later in the story she admits to having been a bit jealous because Jen was actuallly close to her family). More importantly, I have to make a note now that the school librarian was Mrs Kinney, in the unlikely event that ever comes up again in the future.
