If you’ve never seen Star Wars and just read the script then, yeah, it is utterly terrible.  It’s full of bad dialogue, shallow characters and a really silly plot.  Yet, despite the terrible writing it’s still a great movie because a movie is a collaborative effort and George Lucas was lucky enough to have really good actors to get the most out of the lines they were goven, not to mention all the artists and visual effects people and the music.
